“What a great way to start a partnership.” **

The *Landman* season 2 finale may have ended with Tommy (Billy Bob Thornton) creating his own oil company headed by his son Cooper (Jacob Lofland), but the Norris family achievement didn’t come without the backing of Gallino (Andy Garcia). **

Tommy was able to convince Gallino, who is also a cartel leader, to break away from M*Tex Oil to work with him at CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle. However, Gallino’s involvement came with a very stern warning: “If you lose this, and you try to f--- me in any way, the thing you love the most? That’s the first thing I’ll take.” ******

So, is Tommy worried about being able to uphold his end of the bargain?**

“I think it's a big concern,” Thornton tells E*ntertainment Weekly*. “And I think particularly for his son, you know? Since it all kind of started there with Gallino thinking, ‘Well, how can I get this guy, Tommy? I know what. I'll rope his son.’”

Cooper, who is now the president of CTT Oil Exploration and Cattle, unknowingly partnered with Gallino to finance his oil wells at the beginning of season 2. After initially trying to find a loophole in their contract, that partnership is now set to continue with Gallino funding additional wells and pocketing 50 percent of all revenue. **

While Gallino didn’t specify what he believes the thing that Tommy loves most to be, it’s clearly his family, many of whom are now working alongside him at CTT. Cooper, in particular, is facing looming trouble in his personal life in addition to his professional career.

It’s still unclear whether or not the young oil exec will be charged for the murder of a man who attempted to rape his fiancée, Ariana (Paulina Chávez). In the penultimate episode of season 2, Cooper stopped the man from assaulting his fiancée and proceeded to beat him until he was unconscious. **

Although the man technically died of a heart attack — and the sheriffs involved appeared to agree with Tommy that the case was shut — the altercation may still come back to haunt Cooper moving forward. It could also serve as good fodder for Gallino, who is aware of the incident.**

When asked if Cooper has been officially cleared of the charges at the end of season 2, series co-creator Christian Wallace tells EW, “I don't want to say anything definitively on that.”

The *Landman* season 2 finale is streaming now on Paramount+.
