Happy Thursday, booklovers!
You know that intoxicating feeling of getting into a new book? The themes touch on exactly what you’re craving, the characters feel like real people (love ‘em or hate ‘em) and the plot keeps you perpetually on the edge of your seat. There’s power in an unputdownable read.
I recently had this experience with “The Testaments” by Margaret Atwood, which I read for the first time ahead of the Hulu show, out next week. I know, I know. I’m very late to this 2019 novel. But I’d be remiss not to share that it gave me that giddy new-book feeling. Those of you who have read “The Handmaid’s Tale” or “The Testaments” know how skilled Atwood is at surprising her readers and teasing new details along the way. Every minute I felt outside of the story felt like a minute too long.
This winter's standout new books include "Strangers" by Belle Burden, "Lost Lambs" by Madeline Cash and "Whidbey" by T. Kira Madden.
In that spirit, we’ve got a recommendation list of 15 new books you should check out. They span romance, memoir, thriller and more. Here are a few of my favorites:

🍎"This is Not About Us" by Allegra Goodman: The death of a Rubinstein family matriarch sparks an uproar across three generations involving divorce, dating, college, bat mitzvahs, coming-of-ages and the silent treatment.
🪑"The Optimists" by Brian Platzer: A big-hearted but wry story about an eighth-grade teacher remembering his most promising student’s meteoric rise to Silicon Valley celebrity and sudden fall into domestic terrorism.
🌊"Whidbey" by T Kira Madden: A searing thriller about a young woman retreating to a remote island after her childhood abuser resurfaces, and his murder after a tell-all memoir ignites the true crime-hungry public.
