WASHINGTON, Jan 7 (Reuters) - The White House is withdrawing its nomination of Ryan Baasch to be a commissioner on the Federal Trade Commission and instead will make him a deputy director of the National Economic Council, a White House official told Reuters. Baasch will handle issues related to tech, telecoms and competition policy and receive a title of deputy assistant to President Donald Trump, the official said. He replaces Robin Colwell at the NEC, a group of economic advisers at the White House. In December U.S. chipmaker Intel made Colwell its head of government affairs, shortly after the U.S. government took a 10% stake in the company. Two other NEC deputies, Cale Clingenpeel and Paige Willey, will remain in their roles.
