Hayley Erbert Reflects on Joys and Challenges of New Motherhood After Welcoming Baby Everley

It's been just a few short months since Dancing With the Stars judge Derek Hough and his wife, Hayley Erbert, welcomed their first child, Everley Capri Hough. Since that day, the pair have been reveling in parenthood, doting on their tiny daughter and sharing adorable photos and videos. But even when Everley was just two weeks old, they marveled at how much she was "changing every day."

On April 10, Erbert posted a carousel of Instagram photos from the little family's first Easter together. Everley lies on her back on a picnic blanket, while Erbert is pictured lovingly kissing her daughter and smiling at the photographer, presumably Hough. The professional dancer also posted a caption that expanded on the feelings they first mentioned months before.

"Motherhood is even more complex and contradicting than I could have ever imagined," she wrote. "It feels like living in two places at once. Where joy and heartache can both be true, all of the time. My heart is constantly bursting open, while also breaking into a million pieces."

"I find myself celebrating every little bit of your growth, while quietly grieving the version of you that existed just moments before," she continued.

Erbert recognized the "beautiful contradiction" that she felt, feeling excited to watch Everley grow while also wanting to stop time. "This pull between holding on and letting go, between wanting time to slow down and knowing it never will."

She finished her post by promising to keep "soaking in every little detail, every version of you, every fleeting moment we have together."

Erbert is definitely soaking in all the warm-and-fuzzy feelings that come with becoming a parent. However, she's also proven that her dancing prowess and self-care needs are stronger than ever. Hough posted a video showing him and Erbert working out in Alo shock suits. "Wifey has me trying some new things," he wrote.

Erbert also turned up at one of the Savannah Banana games to dance, blowing everyone away with her strength and flexibility so soon after giving birth.

"The fact that [Hayley Erbert] just had a baby and can already move like this is insane!!!" Commented one impressed fan. "A woman's body is capable of incredible things!!!"
