Kaia Gerber praised brother Presley Gerber for speaking out about drug and mental health struggles.
The Shards star considered herself an “easy” child for parents Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber, and she never asked for help.
Presley shared a lengthy Instagram video about his medication regimen late last year.
Kaia Gerber explained how Presley Gerber’s drug use and mental health struggles have impacted her over the years.
“When something like that happens in a family, it kind of levels everyone,” Kaia told Voguein a profile published on Aug. 11, making a rare comment about her older brother.
The Shardsstar noted that she “never wanted to ask” parents Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber for help. The 24-year-old said she “started to self-identify” as their “easy” child. Kaia added, “It felt like too much to have two children who were needing.”

Presley has been making headlines for his struggles since 2019 when he was arrested and charged with a DUI in Beverly Hills. He pleaded no contest to the charge that same year and was sentenced to three years probation, community service, and a DUI program.
“My parents for most of our lives were very, very private and didn’t share anything—and now we have this absolute teacher, my brother, who says, ‘I’m gonna be very human for everyone,’” Kaia continued during Tuesday’s interview, referring to Presley’s candid social media admission from late last year.
“There’s only so much you can hide from the world,” Kaia added. “And trying to put a lid on something just makes the person feel like you’re ashamed of them.”

In a December 2025 Instagram video (which has since been deleted), Presley told followers that he was on a medication regimen, which included opiates, benzodiazepines, antidepressants, blood pressure medications and ketamine drips, among others. Presley said he has seen 15 psychiatrists and didn’t feel like he had “as much direction” as he wanted to in terms of medication.
“I don’t know if it’s a little bit or a lot, who f---ing knows at this point anymore,” he said, in part. “All these doctors say a lot of different things, so it’s kind of scary, but hopefully between my research and their research and God, we can figure this out.”
Presley noted that “honesty is the best policy” when it came to sharing his story. He wanted to share his struggles so that people would feel like they were “not alone” if they were in a similar situation.
“That is how I feel most of the time, and I have a feeling that if I say all of this, a lot of people will at least know that there’s someone else going through it,” he added. “And the second thing is, hopefully I find some people out here and are willing to help or know someone that can help.”
