Kristen Stewart praises wife Dylan Meyer over feature directorial debut, The Wrong Girls.
The actress also opened up about what it was like to be directed by her wife.
“The crew was ready to jump into any hot or cold water for her,” Stewart gushed.
Kristen Stewart‘s latest film was a family affair.
The Twilight actress is currently sharing the spotlight with her wife, Dylan Meyer, who directed her in the psychedelic comedy The Wrong Girls. While chatting to E! News about the experience, Stewart made it clear that she is nothing but impressed with the way that Meyer handled her directorial debut.
“It’s the way that she chooses the people that surround the thing that she loves so much,” Stewart gushed. “You have to find people that love it just as much, because as a filmmaker, it’s yours first. But then it has to transfer.”
Stewart added that she was blown away by the way Meyer carried herself on set and witnessed firsthand how it impacted every facet of the production.

“Dylan has this beautiful, delicate, gentle, inviting ability to be like, ‘This is yours,’” Stewart shared. “And so the crew was ready to jump into any hot or cold water for her. It was so much fun to make this movie.”
Stewart and Meyer hard-launched their romance back in 2019, when Meyer shared a Polaroid picture of them kissing via Instagram. Two years later, Stewart confirmed that they were engaged after Meyer popped the question. In April 2025, they wed in an intimate Los Angeles ceremony.
During a joint interview with Stewart, Meyer admitted that she had been working on The Wrong Girls before the couple began dating and even then, she knew Stewart was her pick for the lead role.

“I actually shared it with her probably seven years before we ever reconnected and started dating,” Meyer said. “When I first met her, I always wanted Kristen to be in the movie.”

She then cheekily assured her wife, “That’s not why I started dating you.”
The Wrong Girls follows pot-loving besties Frankie (Stewart) and Molly (Alia Shawkat) as a case of mistaken identity throws their lives into chaos. Its star-studded cast includes LaKeith Stanfield, Zack Fox, Tony Hale, Kate McKinnon, and Geena Davis, with Seth Rogen and Kumail Nanjiani lending their voices to the film as Frankie and Molly’s judgmental talking cats.

Meyer previously told Entertainment Weekly that the stoner comedy was inspired by her relationship with her best friend and producing partner, Maggie McLean, explaining, “It’s a love letter to wayward chaotic women and the essential platonic partnerships that prop them up. The Wrong Girls may feature giant squids, Danish hitmen, talking cats, and supernatural abilities, but the emotional story and stakes are pure memoir.”
The Wrong Girls opens in theaters on Aug. 14.
