Mormon Wives’ Chase McWhorter Reveals What Actually Happened Between Him and Jessi Draper

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Chase McWhorter spilled all the details on what really went down between him and Jessi Draper.
“We just kissed,” McWhorter, 30, said of him and Draper, 33, during the Tuesday, April 7, episode of Harry Jowsey’s “Boyfriend Material” podcast. “That one got spun out of control, but we just kissed at a party, had a few drinks, it was nothing crazy. People turned it into something that wasn't.”
Last month, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that McWhorter and Draper got cozy before sharing a smooch while attending a party together.
“They were having fun at a party, and it’s not serious between them,” the insider told Us.

Chase is the ex-husband of Draper’s Secret Lives of Mormon Wives costar Miranda McWhortner. Miranda, 27, and Chase divorced in 2024, while Draper split from husband Jordan Ngatikaura in March.
After the kiss made headlines, Chase shared that he and Draper are “back in familiar territory.”
“Obviously, with everything going on with [Jessi’s] divorce, I think that the whole idea was to just take her out to have fun with some friends at a party downtown,” he said on Tuesday. “And then [we] had a few drinks and kissed a little bit, but other than that, we're just friends. She's going through a lot, so I'm going to make sure I learn my lesson on that.”
Chase joked that he found himself “in trouble” with Miranda following the kiss.
“It wasn't cool to Miranda, obviously, and got in trouble there,” he admitted. “She deserves a lot better. Everyone agrees with that, I think.”

Chase revealed that he came clean to Miranda immediately about what happened between him and Draper.
“So I told her the next day. I was like, ‘Hey, last night, kind of stupid. Me and Jessi went down to this thing. I wanted to get her out of the house because she's been going through a lot, and I had a friend's birthday party and we kissed,’” he recalled. “And she was like, ‘You f***ing idiot.’”
Chase explained he thought it was the best decision to be open and honest with his ex-wife.
“That's a better place to be than a lying idiot, right? Because I have been that, too,” he quipped. “Maybe that's where I've evolved. It's just like one step up on the idiot chain.”
Chase revealed that Draper sent Miranda a voice note explaining the situation before ordering her friend flowers.
“Jessi sent her, I think, a voice note the next day. I was pretty upset about how it went down too. Then, eventually, some flowers,” he said.

After Chase and Draper’s fling went viral, Miranda seemingly reacted to the news by uploading a photo of a bouquet and note she received from Draper.
“I completely understand you being upset with me,” the card read. “But wanted to send you a little something to let you know I’m thinking about you and I am so so sorry. – Jessi.”
This isn’t the first time Chase has been involved with one of Miranda’s friends. Chase and Miranda attended Taylor Frankie Paul’s “soft-swinging” parties while they were married. Following Paul’s swinging scandal, Chase and Miranda distanced themselves from her before ultimately calling it quits. After their split, Chase briefly dated Miranda’s Mormon Wives costar Layla Taylor. Taylor later dated Chase’s brother, Mason McWhorter.
