Stevie Wonder stunned fans on Dec. 18 when, after announcing the concert only days before, the singer revealed that his annual charity concert was officially canceled for this year.

Wonder shared the tough news with fans on Facebook, announcing that the Stevie Wonder 26th House Full of Toys Celebration, which was set to take place over multiple nights this year, was not happening anymore.

"A week and a half ago I came up with the idea of doing 4 nights at the Fonda Theatre to raise money for House Full of Toys. Big idea. Little time," Wonder said in a statement, explaining the reasoning behind the unfortunate decision. "So, because of that little time, I've decided to cancel all 4 shows."

But he went on, noting that he still plans to donate to charity this year instead of the concerts, saying, "Yet still I will this year put my money where my heart is by giving a substantial donation for the children for House Full of Toys. And next year, we will again do House Full of Toys with the big idea and enough time to put it together."

According to Wonder's statement, he plans to move forward with his initial idea of a multi-night concert celebration next year, giving him and his team sufficient time to put the event together. As for those who purchased tickets to the previously announced 2025 concerts, the statement included information about refunds as well.

Only days before the cancellation news, on Dec. 13, Wonder shared a video promoting the event, declaring, "This time we're switching things up at the Fonda Theatre."

In the clip, the "Isn't She Lovely" singer excitedly told fans about "four incredible nights of music, song, and celebration, and I want you to bring the light each night." Wonder invited fans to join him on Dec. 18, 19, 20, and 21 for the concerts, with his shocking cancellation announcement dropping on what would've been the first night of the event.

Fans were upset about the sad news but took it in stride, sharing their thoughts on social media.

One such fan commented, "I was SO looking forward to seeing you Stevie! 😭 I’m so very sad, but I understand. I’ll just wait patiently until next year."

"You’re a gift to all of us! I really appreciate your effort to make the world a better place," read a particularly encouraging message, while someone else said, "No worries, Stevie… thanks for always giving of yourself!"

Fans of Wonder and the annual House Full of Toys Celebration shared hopes that next year goes smoothly and according to plan.
