Ryan Murphy fans have another provocative series to add to their watchlists.
The Beauty — a sci-fi thriller about a sexually transmitted treatment that turns users beautiful but with lethal side effects — is set to premiere on FX and Hulu on Jan. 21. And fans are gearing up for what's been promised to be a wild, bloody ride.
“It has amazing action sequences, it has a lot of body horror, it has a great love story, it has a great kind of buddy comedy thing going on and it has a great villain,” Murphy shared at New York Comic Con in October 2025, per Forbes. “So it kind of has a combination of really heightened genres, which is inherent in the source material. It was a lot of fun to work on that tone.”
In addition to stars Evan Peters, Ashton Kutcher, Rebecca Hall, Anthony Ramos and Jeremy Pope, The Beauty features a roster of celebrity guest appearances. Those include Bella Hadid, Ben Platt, Billy Eichner, Isabella Rossellini, Peter Gallagher, Vincent D’Onofrio, Meghan Trainor, Amelia Gray Hamlin, Lux Pascal and Nicola Peltz Beckham, among others.

The Beauty will start airing on FX and Hulu on Wednesday, Jan. 21. The series centers on FBI agents Cooper Madsen (Peters) and Jordan Bennett (Hall) as they investigate the "gruesome and mysterious" deaths of supermodels in Paris.
"As they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a sexually transmitted virus that transforms ordinary people into visions of physical perfection, but with terrifying consequences," the official synopsis reads. "Their path leads them directly into the crosshairs of The Corporation (Kutcher), a shadowy tech billionaire who has secretly engineered a miracle drug dubbed ‘The Beauty,’ who will do anything to protect his trillion-dollar empire."
“I love this notion of giving people some superhuman capability that is not 10 steps removed from today, but two steps removed from today," Kutcher told Vanity Fair in a January 2026 interview about the show. "I think that’s always more fun because you’re not in outer space. You can imagine this actually happening.”
How many episodes will there be of The Beauty?

There are 11 episodes of The Beauty, and if the series is as well-watched as its trailer — which amassed over 190 million views within a week, per Deadline — there could be more.
Deadline reported that FX had given a series order for The Beauty back in September 2024 and that it was based on the 2015 comic book series of the same name by Jeremy Haun and Jason A. Hurley. Though a second season hasn't been confirmed, the show hasn't been billed as a limited series, and there are over 30 titles in The Beauty comic series to potentially pull from.
Hurley wrote about attending the world premiere of The Beauty in a January 2026 Instagram post, describing it as "the most surreal experience" of his life.
"We can’t talk about what we watched yet, but I’m excited for you all to see this brilliant show that Ryan Murphy, Matt Hodgson, and the cast and crew have put together," he wrote. "I don’t think anything will ever be cooler than seeing how they translated our creation to the screen."

FX and Hulu will air the first three episodes of The Beauty in order on Jan. 21. After that, episodes will be released every week on Wednesdays until the last four episodes. The final two weeks of the series will feature back-to-back episodes.
