“I've been involved in a lot of big events,” Trump told reporters at the White House last month. “I have never had an event that has had more interest than the UFC fight we have right at the front door.”
UFC president and CEO Dana White told The New Yorkeron Monday, May 25, that Trump first pitched him the idea for America's 250th at a UFC event last year. “So literally, that was a Saturday. On Monday, the White House started calling, saying, ‘Let's start getting the logistics set up,' ” he said.
Also on Monday, May 25, the construction crews were spotted raising stage lights over the South Lawn. The next day, the crews were reframing the backdrop of the People's House.
The makeshift arena will seat just over 4,000 people. White and TKO Group executive chairman Ari Emanuel are each giving away 200 tickets. The president will have 1,000 tickets to give away, with the remaining tickets going to all the different branches of the military.
Meanwhile, roughly 85,000 people will be able to watch the event free of charge at the Ellipse Park's “UFC Freedom 250 Fan Fest."
